Photograph of Al Schmitz standing on the right bank of the Owens River and fishing in it. Brush and tall grasses sprawl across the right bank in the foreground. Al Schmitz stands in the near distance at center with his back to the camera. He faces towards the river and raises his fishing rod vertically over his head. Ahead of him, the Owens River flows on a slight arc across the image from left to right. On the opposite bank, tall pines and brush line the river on the left. At right, the bank slopes upward where boulders sit clumped together near the upper right corner. Pines line the far side of the slope. Mountains rise in the far distance.
