Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. An out-of-focus photograph of the West and Schmitz party campsite set up at Twin Lakes. A clearing stretches across the foreground. In the near distance the camp is set up. A tent is pitched beneath trees at right. Tables stand at center. Someone sits at one of the tables and faces towards the left. On the left side of the camp, the camp stove sits on the ground and billows smoke. It is surrounded by pots. Trees line the clearing along the back edge of the camp. Text from negative sleeve: 1264. Twin Lakes, Calif. About 1922. Al Schmitz, Harry Schmitz and his Buick, H.H.West. 1. Our camp at Twin Lakes above Bridgeport between the two lakes. Fine fishing above the upper lake. Al Schmitz said he looked across the creek once where I was fishing, and saw a big bear in the trees behind me. It paid no attenti [sic] to me, and Al kept quiet. It went away i [sic] in the trees, and I never heard or saw i [sic] it. Good thing I didn't. 1 film
