Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from left to right, of Harry Schmitz and Al Schmitz standing by the tent in their camp at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. The campsite is nestled among a grove of pines. A tree trunk rises alongside the left frame in the foreground. Beyond it stands the group's large, striped tent. Harry Schmitz and Al Schmitz stand in the near distance at center and to the right of the tent. A table stands to their right. Harry stands slightly further back at left and faces towards the camera. Al stands slightly more forward and closer to the table; he faces towards the right. Both seem to occupy themselves with a task. Beyond the trees surrounding their camp, a meadow stretches into the distance. A low hill stands in the far distance. Text from negative sleeve: 1266. Tuolumne Meadows, about 1922. 1. Our tent and camp at Budd's Creek down the meadow across the bridge. L to R: Harry Schmitz, Al Schmitz. 2. Al Schmitz getting ready to fish. 3. We went up to Elizabeth Lake to fish. Very cold, and we had to build a fire on the bank of the lake. Here it is. Very poor fishing. Think that is Al Schmitz sitting at extreme left. 3 films
