Photograph of Al Schmitz sitting near a campfire on the shore of Elizabeth Lake during a fishing excursion. A bank of Elizabeth Lake stretches across the foreground. In the near distance, Al Schmitz sits in partial view along the left frame; he sits on the ground, facing left. To the right of him, at center, a campfire smolders. Beyond the near bank, Elizabeth Lake stretches across the mid-ground. On the far bank, a thick treeline spans across the image. A mountain rises from behind the treeline in the far distance.
Text from negative sleeve: 1266. Tuolumne Meadows, about 1922. 1. Our tent and camp at Budd's Creek down the meadow across the bridge. L to R: Harry Schmitz, Al Schmitz. 2. Al Schmitz getting ready to fish. 3. We went up to Elizabeth Lake to fish. Very cold, and we had to build a fire on the bank of the lake. Here it is. Very poor fishing. Think that is Al Schmitz sitting at extreme left. 3 films
