Photograph of Al Schmitz walking through the West and Schmitz party campsite while carrying his fishing gear. Al Schmitz stands in the near distance at center. The camera catches him mid-step as he walks towards the right, laden with gear and with a pipe in mouth. The camp table stands to the right and in front of Al. In front of the table, a man (probably Harry Schmitz) stands in profile along the right frame. He is in partial view and faces towards the left. The camp tent stands in partial view along the left frame with its front flap open. Beyond the camp clearing, pines dot the landscape in the background.
Text from negative sleeve: 1266. Tuolumne Meadows, about 1922. 1. Our tent and camp at Budd's Creek down the meadow across the bridge. L to R: Harry Schmitz, Al Schmitz. 2. Al Schmitz getting ready to fish. 3. We went up to Elizabeth Lake to fish. Very cold, and we had to build a fire on the bank of the lake. Here it is. Very poor fishing. Think that is Al Schmitz sitting at extreme left. 3 films
