Photograph of Harry Schmitz standing in the middle of the West and Schmitz party campsite set up at Tamarack Flat in Yosemite National Park. The camp sits back in the near distance next to a tall tree that extends out of the top frame. A lean-to stands nearest to camera at center. Behind and to the right of the lean-to stands a tent. Smoke billows from a smoldering campfire at center behind and to the left of the lean-to. Harry Schmitz stands at the back edge of the camp behind and to the left of the campfire. He faces towards the camera. On the far right side of the camp, a tall tree trunk rises out of frame. Beyond the camp, a grove of pines occupies the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1267. Yosemite - , Tamarack Flat, about 1922. Harry Schmitz, Al Schmitz and self in Harry's Buick. Going from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite, commenced to rain and Harry was afraid to drive down El Capitan grade in the afternoon in the rain so we made a quick camp at Tamarack Flat. We were out of grub. Cooked bread in canned milk and had coffee. We set up a lean to to sit under and here is Harry Schmitz getting up something to eat. 1 film
