Photograph of Frank Mellus aiming his rifle into the air to shoot a duck (out-of-frame). Frank Mellus stands in the near distance on an embankment, left-of-center. His back is squared to the camera as points his rifle into the air towards the left. The embankment extends ahead of him into the distance. Ponds sit on either side of it. The opposite bank is visible in the far distance.
Text from negative sleeve: 1272. Sunset Gun Club, November 25, 1916. 1. L to R: Standing, Theodore Lohman ("Pete" Lohman.) H.H.West. Squatting, L to R: Keeper Hardy & Frank Mellus. 2. Frank Mellus sees a duck coming. Grabs his gun. Keeper Hardy is stringing Frank's ducks. 3. 4. 5. Frank Mellus jumps up and shoots twice at a duck over head. Reloads, and I get him shooting at another. THESE PICTURES WERE NOT POSED. 5 films
