Mertie West was H. H. West's second wife. Agnes Whitaker was Mertie's sister-in-law.
Mertie West and Agnes Whitaker hold pots and pans at their campsite. Mrs. West wears a floral dress, while Mrs. Whitaker wears a sweater with a collared shirt underneath. The rest of the campsite are visible in the background, including an awning, boxes, chairs, and other pots and pans. There are trees in the background.
Text from negative sleeve: 1290. Rock Creek trip. Aug. 29, Sept. 7, 1940. 1. I make my bed under the willows beside the Rock Creek. Here it is. 2. Mertie West in camp, in front of my outdoor bed. 3.
