Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of people swimming in a pool during a Masonic picnic in the Verdugo Estates area of Glendale. The swimming pool occupies the majority of the image. It is widest in the foreground and recedes back to the left. Someone in a swim cap holds onto the the pool's ledge in the lower right corner and faces towards the right. Just beyond them, someone swims away from the camera alongside the pool's wall at right. Further along the pool's edge, a few more swimmers hold onto the wall and others dangle their feet into the water as they sit on the pool's deck. At the far end of the pool, people splash in the water. A concrete wall stands on the far side of the pool and wraps around to the right, where it is stepped. A sign posted on the wall reads, "DIVING [FROM WALL?] PROHIBITED." Gardens extend from the right side of the wall and out of frame. A hillside rises in the distance at right. Text from negative sleeve: 1333. Verdugo Estates about 1930. We went to a Masonic picnic to the Verdugo Estates. There was a swimming pool there and we have: 1.
