Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. The negative sleeve identifies the woman in the fur neck piece as Alice Baltzell Tibbetts, but using other images as reference, this does not appear to be correct. Ralph Hiatt stands with other attendees of the Iowa Picnic in Lincoln Park. He holds a pipe and looks off to the right. Other people stand in a group next to him. The man crosses his arm in front of his body. There are other people in the background, as well as trees. Text from negative sleeve: 1358. Iowa State picnic, Lincoln Park, Los Angeles, Calif., Feb. 25, 1939. 1. Side view of Doc Ashby's face way thru in the center, his hat touching the Adams sign in tree. Don't know rest. 2. Ralph Hiatt at right. Alice Baltzell [handwritten:] Tibbets [sic] with the big fur neck piece and back to camera. 2 films.
