Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of H. H. West's car parked outside the Southern Pacific Railroad depot at Battle Mountain during a stop for lunch. A dirt parking lot spans across the foreground and back towards the depot. H. H. West's car is parked nearest to camera at left. It is viewed from the side and faces right. Its back end extends out-of-frame on the left. Someone sits in the passenger seat. Further in the distance, the Battle Mountain train depot stretches across the image on a slight angle. Across the rooftop of the depot it reads, "BATTLE MOUNTAIN." Another car is parked in the lot in front of the railroad station, right-of-center. It too is viewed from the side and faces right. Text from negative sleeve: 1581. Yellowstone trip 1942. Our car by the S.P.R.R. depot at Battle Mountain, where we stopped to eat lunch. Saturday, June 20, 1942. Too windy and dusty here. Went around on a side street and stopped in front of a doctor's residence under the cottonwood trees. 1 film [Note: In all instances of the year date, 1942, the last digit (2) is handwritten over a typed 3.]
