Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the Brigham Young Cemetery looking southeast across the cemetery. Manicured grass grounds stretch across the park. A walkway in the distance enters at left and weaves towards the far end of the cemetery. In the near distance at center, a singular tree stands in the cemetery. Low trees and shrubs line the right side of the cemetery. At left, a low, stone wall with a wrought iron fence lines the perimeter of the cemetery and wraps along the far side of the park. In the far corner, the graves of Brigham Young and two of his wives lie on the ground. In the far distance, a snow-covered mountain is visible. Text from negative sleeve: 1583. Yellowstone trip 1942. Salt Lake City, Utah, Sunday June 21, 1942. 1. The city lot right in town where Brigham Young is buried. Taken over the iron railing fence in front. 2. The brick wall at rear of the lot to prevent bank from caving down. Had to climb up on this wall to get a photo of the grave. 3. Leaned over the iron fence and took photo of the grave of Brigham Young. Slabs marking graves of two wives are right next to it. 3 films. [Note: In all instances of the year date, 1942, the last digit (2) is handwritten over a typed 3.]
