Photograph of a bear climbing on top of the elevated, fenced platform containing a trash can in a cabin encampment near Old Faithful. The trash can platform stands in the near distance, right-of-center. A bear stands atop the top rungs of the platform, hovering over the trash can. About 3 cabins stand in a small clump on the left side of the image. A car (partial view) is parked behind the cabin at center. Additional cabins stand in row as they recede into the distance at right.
Text from negative sleeve: 1586. Yellowstone trip 1942. Tuesday, June 23, 1942. The housekeeping cabins at Old Faithful Inn, Yellowstone. We had one of these cabins and here are 4 pictures of the bears at and around the garbage cans. 4 films. [Note: In all instances of the year date, 1942, the last digit (2) is handwritten over a typed 3.]
