Photograph of Mertie West standing with her tour group around a spring at Upper Geyser Basin. The spring sits in the lower left corner and extends towards the center. Tourists stand in a semi-circle around the perimeter of the spring. A man with his back to the camera stands along the right edge of the image. Other people in the group stand ahead of him and face left towards the spring. They stand in an arced row that curves from the right and towards center. Mertie West stands at the far left end of the group of tourists as she clasps her hands in front of her. To her left and standing along the edge of the spring, a park ranger gives a talk. A white streak stretches across the image from the lower left corner on an upward angle to the right.
