Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the Riverside Geyser erupting into the Firehole River in the near distance. Firehole River flows away from the camera, weaving through the center of the image. It is viewed from a bridge crossing over the river. The river's width extends across the foreground and narrows into the distance. About halfway down the river, on the right, steam billows from Riverside Geyser. Steam wafts from another geyser on the bank at left, further in the distance. Tree-covered hillsides stretch across the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1590. Yellowstone trip 1942. Tuesday, June 23, 1942. 1. Fire Hole River from the bridge just below Old Faithful Inn. Riverside geyser on bank at left. 2. 3. Mertie West watching the Riverside geyser - a close up. 3 films. [Note: In all instances of the year date, 1942, the last digit (2) is handwritten over a typed 3.]
