Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of runoff from the Excelsior Geyser spilling over its basin and into Firehole River. The Firehole River stretches across the foreground on an upward angle from right to left. Beyond it, the basin of Excelsior Geyser occupies the opposite bank. Hot water flows over the basin and into the river. Steam rises from the geyser at center, beyond the basin. Smaller plumes of steam rise from the left side of the basin, closer to the water. A small section of the near bank occupies the lower left corner in the foreground. Pines cover the hillsides that stretch across the background. A bright streak of white emanates from the lower right corner and a dimmer one emanates from the lower left corner. Text from negative sleeve: 1591. Yellowstone trip 1942.
