West's Buick (partial view) is parked in the foreground at left and is viewed from the front; it extends out of frame. Its license plate reads, "BEVERLY MOTOR CO. 19 CALIFORNIA 42 9P 47 15." The road stretches alongside the car to the right. It extends on an angle from the lower right corner towards the left, where it disappears behind the Buick. On the right side of the road and behind the car, signs stand in front of a fence that lines a bridge. The signs read, "EAST FORK ILLINOIS RIVER," and "OREGON U. S. 199." Pines stands in the background at right. Text from negative sleeve: 1617. Yellowstone trip 1942. Thursday, July 2, 1942. 1. After leaving Jacksonville and going down the Rogue River we found a sign reading "Los Angeles City Limits." 2. Iron bridge over the Applegate River where father says he mined. 3.
