Mary West (Mary Adelbert Teel West Shepard) was H. H. West's first wife and the mother of his children. Harriet Maria Teel Cline was Mary's sister and Wilfrid Cline was Harriet's husband.
Wilfrid and Harriet Cline and Mary West stand by the reservoir at Elysian Park. All three wear hats. A dog runs behind Mrs. West, who holds a pole in one hand and her skirt in the other. Mrs. Cline also holds her skirt. Mr. Cline holds a cigar. There are palm trees and hills in the background. H. H. West's shadow is visible in the foreground.
