Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the former residence of Frank Lemberger standing on the corner of Sichel and Hawkins (now Manitou) streets. The house was built by George M. West and appears to be in the Queen Anne style. Manitou Street stretches across the foreground. At right, behind a tree and a utility pole stands the residence of Frank Lemberger. A large porch stands on the right side of the house. From it, a rounded tower rises and is capped by a cupola. Round windows dot both the tower and cupola. A side entrance sits to the far left of the house. In front of the house, a car is parked, facing left. Neighboring houses stand to the left of the Lemberger house. Text from negative sleeve: 1677. Los Angeles, California. Sichel and Hawkins Streets. Now Sichel and Manitou streets. The houses father built for Uncle Frank Lemberger on Hawkins street in 1888. There were four houses built on the property, one of which has since burned down and been replaced with a stucco.
