Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Wilson D. West standing in front of the old West family residence on South Workman Street. South Workman Street spans the foreground. Wilson D. West stands on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street, right-of-center, in the near distance. To the left of him, a walkway that is flanked by 2 shrubs leads to the front of the house. The house stands at center. On the right side, behind Wilson, is the front porch of the house. Trees and shrubbery line the property at right and a neighboring house stands in partial view at far left. Text from negative sleeve: 1685. Los Angeles, California. South Workman street, East Los Angeles. 1. The old home at 429 South Workman street as it looked May 31, 1936. Wilson D. West standing in front. It is quite changed from 1894. 2. I had Wilson D. West stand at about the same place and position as he stood in 1894 and took the second picture. The water pipe is about where it was, but the faucet seems to have been changed. 2 films.
