Soldier in a crowd with Southern Pacific Railroad's River Station in the background. The soldier holds his gun up, obscuring his face. A boy looks at the camera at the left. There are women sitting on the balcony of the station. American flags are attached to the front of the station.
Text from negative sleeve: 1701. Los Angeles, California. River Station, on San Fernando Road, The S. P. R. R. depot. 1898. The Seventh Regiment is getting ready to entrain for San Francisco, and they are feeding the soldiers under the gallery, partly hidden by palm leaves. 1. The soldiers marching in, watched by the spectators on the balcony of the old depot. 2. Watching the soldiers eat. Old depot balcony above. 3. Close up of soldiers carrying flag. Too close to be good, but the spectators on the old River Station depot balcony show up good. 3 films.
