Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Lester and Romayne Shaw were the nephews of Mertie Whitaker, who became H. H. West's second wife in the 1920's. Based on the ages of Lester and Romayne Shaw, and the fact that Romayne Shaw was not born until 1899, the date of this image has been estimated as about 1900, rather than about 1898. Romayne and Lester Shaw sit on fence posts in the Whitaker's front yard. Romayne wears a white gown. Lester has his hands in his lap. There are houses, fences, and trees visible across the street.
