Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Library in the West's house at 240 South Griffin Avenue. There is a table in the center, which is covered with books, newspapers, a framed portrait, a lamp, a small bust, and a vase of flowers. One of the newspapers on the bottom shelf of the table is "The Youth's Companion." A rocking chair sits in front of the table. There is a footstool in front of the table with a pillow draped on it. There are pictures hanging on the walls and above the fireplace. There are vases and clocks on the mantle. At the right, there is a bookcase, which is partially covered with a curtain. There are other chairs in front of the fireplace and the bookcase. Text from negative sleeve: 1788. Los Angeles, California. 240 South Griffin Ave. 1899. 6 pictures of our library, practically all alike. I must have wanted some good pictures and made various exposures and angles. No one in them. All were taken same day apparently. 6 films.
