Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. John Ernest Teel is the cousin of Mary A. Teel West Shepard and Hattie (Harriet) M. Teel Cline. According to the text from the negative sleeve, this photograph was taken about 1912. This date is incorrect as Ambrose Cline was not born until 1915. An out-of-focus photograph, from left to right, of John Teel, baby Ambrose Cline, Mary A. West and Hattie Cline sitting in a field at John Teel's ranch in Chatsworth. The group is gathered together, left-of-center. John Teel is leftmost. He kneels on the grass as he looks to camera and wraps an arm around Mary West to the right. Mary West crouches down between John Teel and Hattie Cline at right. Hattie Cline sits in the grass in front and to the right of Mary. She looks to the camera. Baby Ambrose Cline sits on the grass in front of the group, at center. A sapling stands behind and to the left of John. The field stretches into the distance behind them. Trees line the edge of the field and power lines pass in front of the tree line in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1876. Chatsworth Park, California. John Teel Ranch, about 1912. 1. 2.
