Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. H. H. West and Mertie Whitaker West's family sit at the Thanksgiving table. There is a covered serving dish at the center of the table, as well as candles and various dishes. There is a chair at the bottom right of the photograph and the arm of what may be an armchair or couch at the left. A photograph of H. H. West Jr. sits on the table. Mertie Whitaker West was H. H. West's second wife. Forrest Whitaker was Mertie's brother, and Agnes was his wife. Josie Shaw was Mertie's sister and Will Shaw (William Henry Shaw) was her husband. Lester Shaw was Will and Josie's son, and Alice Shaw was his wife. Text from negative sleeve: 1926. Los Angeles, California. 2223 Griffin Avenue, Thanksgiving Day, 1942. This picture differs from the two films in envelope #1925, as we had placed the portrait photograph of Corporal Henry H. West, Jr., A. S. N. 19028528, Quartermaster Detachment, then stationed at Fort Mears, Dutch Harbor, Unalaska, Island, Alaska, on the table in front of Mertie West (over) This picture was taken specially so as to send a copy of it to Henry H. West, Jr. at Dutch Harbor, so that he could see we thought of him while we had our Thanksgiving dinner. 1 film.
