Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. An out-of-focus photograph of Mertie West standing next to a tall box that H. H. West fixed up for Wes Witherby to put on Will Shaw's Christmas tree. A tall box decorated for Christmas stands, left-of-center, on a sidewalk. The bottom third of the box is decorated with a brick print. Above the brick print, it reads, "Christmas time." Mertie West stands with the box, behind and to the left of it, and looks to the camera. At right, a car is parked on the street and palm trees stand in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1947. Los Angeles, California. 2223 Griffin Avenue, December 1936. I fixed up a great big carton with a rubber bath tub mat packed in the center for Wes Witherby, to put on the Christmas tree at Will Shaw's home. 1. 2. 3. 4. Four small pictures of Wes Witherby's Christmas present, with Mertie West in charge of it. 4 films. 1 photograph
