Photograph of Mertie West placing flowers at her parents' (Abraham and Mary Prickett Whitaker's) graves in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale on Decoration Day. The cemetery grounds sprawl across the entire image. Mertie kneels down in the near distance, left-of-center. She faces towards the camera, but her head is tilted down. Flowers sit on the ground in front of her as she kneels to the right of a row of gravestones. The row of gravestones stretches back on an angle from the lower left corner towards the center of the image. Mertie kneels near the 4th gravestone back. A couple of women stroll through the cemetery in the distance at center. At right, a crypt obscured by trees stands. Trees and flower arrangements dot the cemetery grounds.
