Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West and Elizabeth Siemsen standing next to a car outside the Southern Pacific Railroad depot in San Luis Obispo. The photograph appears to be lopsided. Mertie West and Elizabeth Siemsen stand side-by-side, left-of-center, and look to the camera. To the left of Mertie, piles of lumber sit on the ground. A car is parked to the right of Elizabeth and extends behind both her and Mertie. It looks to be H. H. West's Buick. It is viewed at an angle from the front and faces towards the right. Parked to the right of the car is a military truck. It is oriented in the same way as the Buick, but it's front end extends beyond the right frame. Behind the women and the vehicles, the train depot stretches across the background. Text from negative sleeve: 2008. H.H.West, Jr. films sent from Dutch Harbor, June 1943. L to R: Mrs H.H.West. Elizabeth Siemsen. Taken at S.P.R.R. depot San Luis Obispo, California, March 8, 1942
