Shaw's home in the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles. The women stand in the near distance in the middle of the yard. A chair sits in the foreground in the lower left corner. Beyond it at center and extending right, tables are lined up in a row. A small washing tub and dishes sit atop the tables. One unidentified woman at left stands in profile at the head of the tables. She faces right as she washes a dish in the washing tub. Alice Shaw stands behind the tables at center and to the right of the woman at left. She faces slightly towards camera and appears to place at dish onto the table. To the right of her, another woman stands behind the table. She stands in partial view along the right edge. Behind the women and to the right, William H. Shaw's house stands in partial view.
