Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Close-up view of 4 boxes of Stakmore chairs sitting on the curb outside the H. H. West Company's offices on Omar Avenue. The boxes sit clumped together on the sidewalk at center. All are damaged. The 2 leftmost boxes sit on the sidewalk upside down. The box second-from-right sits upright and the box at right lies horizontally on a hand truck. Chairs jut out of this box towards the camera. Printed on the boxes, it reads (upside down), "IMPORTANT! KEEP THIS SIDE UP STAKMORE ARISTOCRATS OF FOLDING FURNITURE STAKMORE CO. INC. OWEGO TIOGA, CO. N.Y." The sidewalk they sit upon stretches on a steep upward angle from right to left. Behind them at right, the front of the H. H. West Company's offices stand in partial view. It is parallel to the sidewalk and stretches back towards the left. Handwritten signage hangs in the near window. Text from negative sleeve: 2136. Omar Avenue, Los Angeles. August 1945. Photo of some cartons of Stakmore folding chairs received all bunged up. 3 films
