Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of boxes of Stakmore chairs sitting on the curb outside the H. H. West Company's offices on Omar Avenue. The boxes sit clumped together on the sidewalk at center. The box nearest to camera lies horizontally on a hand truck. Chairs jut out of the top of the box at left. Behind it, a few more boxes sit on the sidewalk; all appear to be damaged. Printed on the boxes, it reads (upside down), "IMPORTANT! KEEP THIS SIDE UP STAKMORE ARISTOCRATS OF FOLDING FURNITURE STAKMORE CO. INC. OWEGO TIOGA, CO. N.Y." The sidewalk stretches back through center and into the distance. Omar Avenue runs alongside it at left. The offices for the H. H. West Company sit at right. Cars line Omar Avenue as it stretches into the distance. At right, the front of the H. H. West Company's offices stands in partial view. It faces left. East 3rd street intersects Omar Avenue in the distance at center. Businesses lining East 3rd Street in the background face towards the camera. Text from negative sleeve: 2136. Omar Avenue, Los Angeles. August 1945.
