Photograph of Mertie West standing near a bus parked in front of the cafe in Gold Beach where she and H. H. West stopped during their trip to Alaska. A road stretches through the foreground on an upward angle from right to left. A bus is parked on the far side of the road in the near distance. It is viewed at an angle from the rear and the side; it faces left. Mertie West stands, left-of-center, in front of the back end of the bus. A cafe stands behind the bus and is mostly obscured by it. From the top of the building, a sign jutting out towards the street reads, "GREEN LANTERN CAFE." Text from negative sleeve: 2152 Color. Alaska Trip. Gold Beach, Ore. July 30, 1946. 1.
