Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a large Ketchikan welcome sign sitting atop the awning covering the sidewalk on a street corner. A sidewalk enters frame from left and runs parallel to the bottom edge. It extends back perpendicularly at right. A man stands on the corner and looks to the left. Behind him, a woman and man walk around the corner of the sidewalk and towards the right, away from camera. A shop window at far left contains signage which reads, "[W]ORLD AIRWAYS." An awning hangs over the sidewalk. Facing towards camera, a small sign hangs down from the awning and reads, "ALASKA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM SIGNAL CORPS U.S. ARMY LONG DISTANCE COMMERCIAL TELEPHONE - TELEGRAPH [left-pointing arrow]." Above the small sign, a large sign sits atop the corner of the awning. The large sign reads, "[I]NTERNATIONAL CLUB 2000 KETCHIKAN ALASKA WELCOME LUNCHEON TUESDAY BLUE FOX CAFE." Further down the sidewalk at right and beneath the awning, people walk about and a couple of signs hang down from the awning. They read, "TAXI," and "DRUGS." Text from negative sleeve: 2176.
