Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the landscape viewed by H. H. West as he traveled from Junction to Whittier. Railroad tracks enter frame in the lower left corner and stretch back into the image before curving back towards the left and out of view. Large rocks sit piled along the right side of the tracks. Further right of the tracks, a stream flows from the bottom edge and into the distance. Pines stand atop an elevated bank at right that juts towards the center of the image. At far left, a few buildings stand at the base of the mountains. Mountains rise across the background. Text from negative sleeve: 2180. Alaska Trip. Whittier trip Sept.2,1946 1. Turnagain arm 2.
