Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from front to back, of Frances Wells, W. L. Kinsell and Mertie West looking at the spirit houses in Eklutna Historical Park. Frances Wells stands with her back to the camera, in the foreground at right. Further back, W. L. Kinsell stands in profile, facing left, and beyond him, Mertie West faces towards the camera, but looks to the left. A clearing stretches across the foreground to the left of Frances. All three look towards Native American spirit houses that are clumped together in the near distance at center. Overgrown grasses and weeds surround the spirit houses at center and obscure others. Trees line the back perimeter of the cemetery. Text from negative sleeve: 2189. Alaska Trip Eklutna and Fort Richardson cemetery Aug.25, 1946. o · 1. Ft Richardson cemetery o · 2.
