Photograph of steerage passengers standing on the bow of a ship. Ship equipment occupies the foreground. Rope sits coiled on the deck at right and large machinery sits on the deck at left. Rigging lines crisscross over the deck and 2 masts hover over the deck at center. A sailor, left-of-center, sits atop the equipment with his back to the camera. Behind and to the left of him, a button-down shirt hangs from a hook. A couple men stand on the deck at center, behind the sailor. Several others stand along the bow's rails. Four stand at starboard and more stand in the background at center, looking over the bow.
