Photograph of Mertie West looking through a pair of binoculars towards Cook Inlet. Mertie West stands at center and in profile, facing left. She holds up a pair of binoculars to her eyes as she looks in the direction of Cook Inlet. Mertie stands among tall grasses and is surrounded by vegetation; a tall shrub stands along the right edge behind her. A clearing stretches beyond her and into the distance.
