Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West and another ship passenger conversing with one another while standing on a sidewalk in Anchorage. The 2 women stand at center. Mertie West stands leftmost with her back to the camera. The unknown woman stands in profile, facing left, towards Mertie. A sidewalk passes beneath them and back on an angle from right to left. To the right of the sidewalk, a wide dirt road stretches through the image. Beyond Mertie and the other woman, a man walks down the sidewalk and towards camera. Cars are visible on the street at far left and lining the opposite side of the street in the distance. A building stands in partial view on the far side of the street. Mountains can be seen in the far distance. A short horizontal streak of white stretches between Mertie and the other woman. Several punched holes line the right edge. Text from negative sleeve: 2230.
