Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. Photograph of the Banff Springs Hotel swimming pool and the Bow River, as viewed from a hotel rooftop. The hotel's pool and surrounding grounds stretch across the foreground and are viewed at a slight distance from above. The pool (partial view) enters frame at left and stretches along the bottom edge towards center on an arc. Guests sit and stand around the pool's edge. Beyond the pool, guests lounge on the grounds that extend to the right. A fence lines the back boundary of the pool area. Beyond the grounds, at center, the Bow River cuts through a valley as it flows into the distance. The base of Tunnel Mountain rises and extends out-of-frame at left. Other surrounding mountains rise from the valley at right. Four punched holes line the bottom edge at right. Text from negative sleeve: Color 2282. Banff trip June 1947.
