Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Mertie West standing behind a barrier at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the southwestern Alberta landscape in either Jasper National Park or Banff National Park. Mertie West stands in the foreground at left, at an overlook elevated above a valley. She faces back towards the right as she rests her hands on a guardrail constructed of logs. The rail stretches back from left to right, passing in front of Mertie and another sightseer standing along the left edge. Beyond the barrier and overlook, a river and valley stretch into the distance below. The river winds from low right and up to the left, obscured by the guardrail and sightseers. Trees blanket the surrounding valley floor. Mountains rise from the far side of the valley in the distance. Text from negative sleeve: 2307. Banff trip June 1947. June 28, 1947.
