Photograph of Mertie West sitting in a chair on the lawn of the Chateau Lake Louise hotel in Banff National Park. Chairs dot a grass lawn that stretches across the foreground. Mertie West sits in a chair on the lawn at center. She looks to the camera. A man sits in a chair to the right of her. Behind and to the left of Mertie, several other guests lounge in chairs on the lawn. A tiered and poppy-covered terrace stretches back and to the left along the back edge of the lawn. Beyond the terrace, the hotel stands in partial view, rising beyond the top frame. The Painter Wing enters frame from right and extends towards the left.
