Photograph of Mertie West standing behind a railing and looking out over Niagara Falls. Mertie West stands in the foreground, right-of-center. She stands, in profile, on the near side of a railing and looks to the left. The metal railing enters frame from left and stretches back on an angle to the right, terminating at a stone that sits along the right edge. Beyond the railing and to the left of Mertie, the Niagara River cascades over Horseshoe Falls (or Canadian Falls) at center and flows to the left, exiting frame. Distant banks of the Niagara River are visible in the far distance.
