Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West and H. H. West standing behind the railing of a viewing platform and overlooking the American Falls. The viewing platform spans the width of the bottom edge and stretches back to the mid-ground on a slight angle to the right. Railings line both the left edge and back edge of the platform. In the near distance at center, Mertie West and H. H. West stand to the right of the corner of the platform and on the near side of the guardrails. Both stand with their backs to the camera as they look out over the falls. A viewing scope stands on the corner of the platform, to the left of Mertie. The Niagara River enters frame in the near distance at right and flows over the American Falls at center, just ahead of the platform. A land form stands on the opposite bank of the Niagara River at right and center. In the distance, Rainbow Bridge extends from the land form at center and out-of-frame at left. From the foot of the falls, the Niagara River is visible flowing along the left edge, passing beneath the bridge. Text from negative sleeve: 2333. Eastern trip October 1947.
