Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. An out-of-focus photograph, from left to right, of H. H. West and Mertie West posing beside a tablet in Paul Revere Mall in Boston's North End. A park walkway stretches across the foreground and into the near distance. At its back edge, a tall brick wall with decorative elements rises across the background. H. H. West and Mertie West stand in front of the wall and pose beside the plaque inset into the wall. H. H. stands to the left of the tablet and Mertie stands to the right of the tablet. The tablet sits at center. A relief of an eagle[?] is sculpted at the top of the plaque and an inscription (not legible) extends below the relief. Four punched holes line the bottom left edge. Text from negative sleeve: 2345. COLOR Eastern trip October 1947 Boston. 1 Mertie West at the entrance to the old Boston Common. Bronze tablet on entrance post 2 Fire Department of Boston was giving some kind of demonstration on the commons. 3 H.H. and Mertie West in front of Revere Tablet in parkway across from Revere House.
