Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. An out-of-focus photograph of Mertie West standing at the base of the statue, "Massasoit," by Cyrus E. Dallin at Cole's Hill in Plymouth, and reading the tablet. Cole's Hill's grounds stretch across the foreground and back through the image on an angle to the right. In the mid-ground, a walkway bisects the image on an angle. The bronze figure of sachem Massasoit stands atop a granite base at center. The figure of Massasoit stands in profile, facing right. Below the statue, Mertie West stands at right and reads the plaque affixed to the statue's granite base. She stands in profile, facing left as she looks down towards the tablet.
