Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a marker at the Bunker Hill Monument indicating the location of a redoubt constructed for the Battle of Bunker Hill. A stone slab is inlaid into the ground at center and rises slightly above the ground. Its inscription reads, "THE BREASTWORK THROWN UP ON THE MORNING OF THE SEVENTEENTH OF JUNE 1778 EXTENDED NORTHERLY THREE HUNDRED FEET." Beyond it, the grassy expanse of Breed's Hill slopes downward to the left from the upper right corner. Wrought-iron fencing lines Monument Square along its left and back edges. Streets and residential buildings stand in the background.
