Photograph of the front of Old North Church (Christ Church), as viewed from across Salem Street in Boston's North End. Hull Street spans the width of the bottom edge and stretches back on an angle to intersect Salem Street. Salem Street stretches across the image in the near distance. At far right and left, people stand on street corners. Beyond them, Old North Church stands along Salem Street, at the end of Hull Street. It is viewed at an angle from the front, entering frame from the right. A central tower extends forward from the building. An arched doorway and an arched window are inset into the front of the tower's ground- and second-stories. Above the arched window, an inscribed tablet is affixed to the brick tower. It reads, "THE SIGNAL LANTERNS OF PAUL REVERE DISPLAYED IN THE STEEPLE OF THIS CHURCH APRIL 18, 1775 WARNED THE COUNTRY OF THE MARCH OF THE BRITISH TROOPS TO LEXINGTON AND CONCORD." Oculi are inset into the right side of the tower and arched windows line the front of the church. A white haze glazes over the upper left half of the image.
