Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Alexandria, Virginia, as viewed from the front steps of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The view looks eastward. Three tiers of wide, stone-paved steps stretch across the foreground. They cascade downward as they stretch back towards center. Just beyond the steps, a drive passes horizontally through the memorial's grounds. Two cars travel towards the left and a bus travels to the right. Beyond and below the drive, the tiered, landscaped grounds of the memorial stretch towards Alexandria. Residential areas of the town are visible in the distance at left. A railroad passes through Alexandria at a slight angle. Buildings stand across the image, throughout the town. King Street stretches straight back through center and into the distance.
