Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a wharf in New Orleans, as viewed from the foot of Canal Street. A parking lot enters frame from the lower left corner; it stretches back towards the right and into the distance. A grassy lawn runs alongside and to the right of it. In the near distance, dozens of cars are parked in the lot. Beyond the lot, the S. S. President is moored at center. It is viewed at a slight angle from the side. A banner hangs from a rail on the left side of the middle deck, it reads, "SEEING HARBOR TRIP [...]." On the top deck, a cabin stands off-center to the left. Signage around each side of the cabin reads, "PRESIDENT." Stacks and American flags also rise from the top of the deck. A large streak of white extends upward from the bottom edge at far right. Lighter patches of white dot the bottom edge. Text from negative sleeve: 2374. Eastern Trip October 1947 New Orleans 1 Mertie West on seat on Sight Seeing Boat on River.
