The Mississippi River flows across the foreground on an angle. In the near distance at left, the S. S. Del Norte sits alongside a wharf. It is viewed at a slight angle from its port side. Two smaller tugboats approach the center of the ship, just left-of-center. Beyond the S. S. Del Norte, the wharf and its buildings stretch across the background.
